You can work on your own project or use the writing exercise provided below. For those participating in the WordPress.com Post A Day challenge, it’s a great time to stockpile a post or two. For those who aren’t sure what they want to work on, here is an interesting exercise for fiction writers from Poets & Writers’ new series, “The Time is Now.”

Away with Words 
So sorry I didn’t make it to the retreat last night! I was so tired, after working with the boys on homework for 2 1/2 hours I went straight to bed. However, I did take my notebook with me and wrote two whole sentences! And those two sentences made up a whole page! Interestingly enough, although I was so tired, the sentences actually made sense, (when I read them this morning). 🙂

Providing separate prompts for fiction writers and poets is a great idea. The poetry one, in particular, seems pretty amusing. I also think it can be pleasantly challenging to write a poem based off a prompt for a different style and vice versa.
